Late nature of Murray winner all too familiar to Chelsea 

 

 

Chelsea's defence were breached for the first time in 388 minutes in all competitions

It was called AFC Bournemouth’s biggest win by their manager Eddie Howe, and the 1-0 triumph over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening in the Barclays Premier League was momentous for the Cherries and Chelsea in many ways.

It was only the second time that Chelsea had lost at home to a newly promoted side in the Barclays Premier League after 43 such matches. The previous defeat came against Charlton Athletic, going down by the same scoreline in April 2001.
For Mourinho, it marked the second defeat too as a manager against a side that has come up from the Championship the season before. The Chelsea manager’s previous experience of defeat to a promoted side was away to Crystal Palace, again 1-0, in 2013/14.

Before this match, Mourinho had dropped points on only two occasions in 31 matches against promoted opponents.
Glenn Murray, who got the goal a mere 99 seconds after coming on as a substitute, ended a run of 388 minutes in all competitions in which the Chelsea goal had been breached.
Mourinho said after the match that his hopes of a top-four finish would be revised to the top six, but his team would have to defy history to do so. No Barclays Premier League team have finished higher than eighth after having 15 points from the first 15 matches of a season.
Concerning for Mourinho is how Chelsea have struggled towards the end of matches. Murray’s goal in the 82^nd minute was the seventh they have conceded in the last 15 minutes of a BPL match this season. No rivals have conceded more, with only Norwich City matching that total.
