US group drums up support for Ikpeazu

A non-for-profit organisation, The Ngwa United Alliance (NUA), USA, has condemned the judg­ment of the Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State that sacked Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.
According the group, the judg­ment was harsh against the gover­nor.

The appeal court had declared Dr. Alex Otti of APGA as the win­ner of the April 11 election and the April 25 supplementary election, overturning INEC declaration of Ikepazu of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner, which was affirmed by the Election Tri­bunal that sat in Umuahia, the state capital.

At a press conference in Lagos recently, the organisation’s chair­man, Mr. Ephraim Udo Jacob, de­scribed the decision of the Appeal Court as a miscarriage of justice.
