Randall Clayton Joyner, 27, charged with armed robbery
Police responded to Scotchman Convenience Store on Port Drive on Wednesday

Horry County police charged one man with armed robbery in connection to an incident at a Socastee convenience store Wednesday.
Randall Clayton Joyner, 27, of Socastee is charged with armed robbery, according to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County police. Joyner is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting bond.
Police responded to Scotchman Convenience Store on Port Drive around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a robbery, Denis said. Two victims – both on-duty clerks at the time – told police Joyner came into the store and bought a red lighter with change, the police report said.
Joyner then left the store and a few minutes later reentered, going into the bathroom. Joyner left the bathroom and walked over to the register and pulled a rock out of his pocket, saying “I hate to do this to you, but you need to open the register and do it now” to the clerk, police said.
The suspect became upset with the clerks for not opening the registers fast enough, police said, so he started waving the rock and yelling at the clerks.

Joyner left with a small amount of cash and no one was injured during the robbery, Denis said.

Detectives investigated and quickly apprehended Joyner, Denis said.
Joyner was arrested in May and charged with unlawful neglect of a child and throwing bodily fluids on a corrections officer, according to jail records. He was released on a $20,000 bail in November, records show.
